B&W Update
Heyo it’s been a minute a lot of bullshit since my last update, a lot of progress. I’m feeling decent. Musically I haven’t made much but that’s just because what I have is done for the most part I have to mix it (I have procrastinated very much so) so now that we are almost at the point of completion it’s time for an update. This won’t be a long one I’m not really gonna reflect upon myself but discuss the recording process and how it was for me and what it felt like recording side 1 of this new album with a slight bit of explaining.
Beginning I started recording this album about a month after completing towering over me however when I tried recording I was hitting walls and sounding like ass. I didn’t have a clear direction for what I wanted to chase. i spent like 2 months just testing ideas out trying random shit but I had one song that really felt like what I wanted to do and it’s the intro to the album. I heard that and instantly said “just like that”. However halfway through I had a split between wanting to chase a different sound. I won’t spoil nothing. But I wanted to make both sides of the album sound different and evoke a different feeling. And then it hit me the title and the ideas all began to line up and everything the story the ideas and the change in sound.
This album is my finest production yet. Towering over me was trying to be abrasive and shoegaze that I actually like listening to. Really loud overwhelming and melodic at the same time. i completed that but had a ton of production stuff I would change now. Since it was my first record truly using guitars I don’t fault myself and I like how the record sounds even now. However this record is recorded much greater and much more atmospheric. I actually sung, It is a little less abrasive but more room for atmosphere. I like to say this is kinda my space album and if that sounds a little lame it’s not I swear mostly because space is lonely as shit. You can’t see anything no sound. No one to disturb you. Empty at the end of the day its a reflection a quiet chamber.
A topic I’ve seen explored a few times grouper, failure, hum, bowie. I, probably internally used influence from their works and wanted to create something. Space Is interesting surrounded by everything but you have nothing. Im proud of my production on this record of my vocals, I’m proud of the songwriting. At the end of the day I won’t really say much more since this update only really talks one side maybe next single I’ll talk about the next one. oh yea the single is coming out August 7th velvet if you read this far and tolerated my rambling you deserve to know.
